Hazleton Area’s senior standout defended his District 2 Class 3A triple jump title on Monday with a winning leap of 45-10¾ on Day 1 of the district meet at Memorial Stadium. Cougars Jose Lopez (43-9¾) and Robert Payano (42-9¾) finished fifth and seventh, respectively.
But the gold medal belonged to Lucas for the second straight year.
