Many children in the United States don’t have access to foods needed to thrive. Kids that miss out on proper nutrition during the summer are more likely to experience learning loss and develop long-term health consequences. The Seamless Summer Food Service Program is about serving kids across the community free lunch all summer long when they do not have access to school lunch. The program provides free, nutritious meals to children 18 years of age and under at approved sites in areas with high concentrations of low-income children.
We are asking for your help in spreading the word that meals will be available through the Hazleton Area School District from June 15, 2026-August 6, 2026. There will be no program on July 4, 2024. If you know of any locations that may be willing to operate as a site, please reach out to the Food Service Department at any time.

For more than 25 years, our district has proudly supported early childhood education and has remained deeply committed to providing high-quality learning experiences that prepare our students for success in kindergarten and beyond. Building upon this strong tradition, we are excited to collaborate with an organization that shares our dedication to children, families, and the broader Hazleton community.
The Hazleton YMCA has a long and respected history of delivering exceptional early childhood and youth programming. Through this partnership, families will benefit from a program located in the heart of our city, making it easily accessible to many of the families we serve. In addition, the YMCA offers before- and after-school care options, which will provide valuable flexibility and support for working families.
Recently, the Hazleton YMCA completed a multi-million-dollar renovation to its Early Learning Center, transforming the facility into a vibrant and welcoming environment for children and families. The building now features modern learning spaces along with both indoor and outdoor playground facilities, creating safe, engaging areas where young learners can explore, play, and grow.
This partnership will allow our Pre-Kindergarten students to benefit from:
A centrally located facility that is easily accessible for families
Expanded programming options, like before and after care, STEM, sports, aquatics and water safety, and youth development, that support working parents and families
Modernized learning environments designed for young children
Access to safe indoor and outdoor recreational spaces that support physical development and social interaction
A community partnership dedicated to supporting the educational and developmental needs of children in Hazleton
Most importantly, this collaboration reflects our shared commitment to investing in early childhood education and ensuring that every young learner in our community has the opportunity to begin their educational journey in a supportive, enriching environment.
We are excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring to our students and families and look forward to working together with the Hazleton YMCA to continue strengthening early learning opportunities in our community.

Thank you for your continued dedication to the students and families of the Hazleton Area School District.

We understand that the college application process can be overwhelming for both students and their families. The Luzerne Foundation is proud to manage the generous gifts of our donors, who are dedicated to supporting students as they pursue their educational goals. Scholarships play a crucial role in bridging the gap between financial aid and out-of-pocket costs, while also recognizing the hard work and achievements of college-bound students.
We don’t want anyone to miss out on these opportunities, and we’re thrilled to partner with our donors to help these young individuals achieve success.
Please help us spread the word to the high schoolers in your life! Don't let this chance pass by, seize the opportunity, submit your application(s) here: https://luzfdn.org/ , and be part of the legacy of success!
