• APPLICATIONS for 2013-2014 School Year
*****Signed commitment letters from parents of accepted students to the Hazleton Area Academy of Sciences must be returned to the guidance counselor at the student's school or mailed to Mrs. Ernst at the High School.
Letters have been sent to guidance counselors to give to students. Students not in district buildings will get their letters by mail.  The application was based on a point system.  Students needed a minimum of 70 points to be considered. This is not a grade, it is a point system. Please see the application process on the tabs on the right of the home screen.
I congratulate those of you that were accepted.  There were 247 applicants. Unfortunately, we could only accept 125 students. Some students have decided not to attend.  You might still be accepted if you received a letter stating you are on the Wait List.

Applications are still being accepted for open spaces for sophomores and juniors for the 2013-2014 school year.

I am sorry to those of you that were not accepted due to a score of less than 70 points. Please feel feel free to reapply next year.  I encourage you to work on your grades and class work.  Hand everything in on time and participate in all projects and activities.  Be part of a team in your group work. Remember also, that the high school offers an excellent education.

Students can enroll in fall college classes at this time. Please see the links on the right hand side of the main page for the academy.  Classes are being offered at Wilkes University, King's College, Luzerne County Community College, and Bloomsburg University at a greatly reduced rate.  Pennsylvania State University is offering a class in Engineering Design at the Academy in the fall of 2013.  There are a few spots open in this class.
    Application Process
Part one is completed by the guidance counselor and teachers.  Part two is completed by the students at school in a testing environment.  Students do not know the question ahead of time.  The question is based on skills covered in science classes.
Current freshmen and sophomores may also apply for admission to the academy.  They should see Mrs. Ernst  in the 9/10 grade office or their guidance counselor.
Current students do not need to re-apply.  Students need to maintain grades (overall GPA of 85; 85 or better in science courses.  Students will go on academic probabation for one semester).
