    Welcome to Hazleton Elementary/Middle School

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am delighted to welcome your child to 6th grade! I would like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Miss Pliska and I teach Reading and Science/Social Studies. I recently graduated from Bloomsburg University in December 2016 with a degree in Middle Level Mathematics Education (Grades 4-8) with a minor in Educational Technology. I am ecstatic to be teaching at Hazleton Elementary/Middle School since it was the elementary school I attended growing up. In my free time I love to play tennis, walk my dogs Xyla May, Kylo Ren, and Clydey Boy, enjoying nature, and traveling with my Fiancé, Chris.

It is my goal that your child’s 6th grade experience will be filled with personal growth and to encourage each of my students to become life-long learners. I am looking forward to starting this new school year with you and your child. As an educator, I believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is key for your child to reach maximum school success. Throughout the school year I will communicate with you via notes, telephone calls, progress reports, report cards, and parent-teacher conferences. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time.

I am looking forward to beginning the year with your child. I also look forward to working with you to support and enhance your child’s academic growth. I want my students to leave my classroom being successful, responsible citizens of society. I expect my students to come to class each day prepared for class and with a positive attitude. Through student, parent, and teacher involvement I believe all students can succeed.
