I serve students who are blind/visually impaired in Hazleton School District in all of the schools. Vision and Orientation and Mobility services take place both one on one and in a group setting. Services may also take place within the classroom environment. I provide students with technology they need to maximize their vision and tools to travel. Hazleton Area School District programs provide functional vision evaluations, learning media assessments, and orientation and mobility evaluations to determine visual needs.
Orientation and Mobility or O&M is a profession which focuses on instructing individuals who are blind or visually impaired with safe and effective travel through their environment
"Visually impaired" means a medically verified visual impairment accompanied by limitations in sight that interfere with acquiring information or interaction with the environment to the extent that special education instruction and related services may be needed. |
