•      Welcome to first grade!  As we begin this school year I would like to take this opportunity to share some important information that will help to make a smooth transition into first grade.  I have listed some information that I feel is pertinent as we begin the new school year.

Communication/Homework folder-  A green folder will be sent home with your child on the first day of class.  This folder will be used throughout the year and will contain finished work, homework, and other important papers.  I will instruct the children to place homework and other papers that need to be returned to school on the left side of the folder and papers that can remain at home on the right side.  The folder is labeled as to avoid any confusion.  Each night please take a moment to review the folder with your child.  It is important for your child to develop a sense of responsibility for completing homework and returning important papers and assignments promptly.

Supplies- I have provided each student with a pencil case containing crayons, pencils, scissors and a glue stick.  I ask that you do not send large binders or art kits to school.  I will let you know when we are running short on supplies.  If we are working on a special project, I may request something to be brought to school.  Please label all objects brought to school with your child's name, including sweaters and jackets.

Backpacks-  Please send your child to school with a clear backpack only.  Since many bags may look alike, make sure your child's name in visible on the backpack.

Snack-  We will have snack every day.  Please send a small nutritious snack with your child to school daily.  It should be a snack that your child can finish in 10-15 minutes.  Please do not send in candy or soda.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  I am looking forward to a great year!!
