    Please Do Now Journals (PDN Reading Journals) - PDNs will occur everyday.  Each student will create a PDN word document for each quarter onto their laptops. PDNs will consist of journal writing entries, essential questions, comprehension questions, and vocabulary building.
     
    Supplies - The student textbook used will be Pearson Grade 7 Common Core Literature.  Students are required to bring the Literature text book, a pen/pencil, and a notebook to class every day. (All students may have a username and password to access the online version of the text book....This process will be discussed in class.)
     
    Vocabulary/Classroom Notes - Vocabulary will be categorized into three categories:  academic vocabulary, story specific vocabulary and various multiple meaning words.  Vocabulary terms (academic and story specific) and literary concepts will be presented to the students in the form of classroom notes/PowerPoint presentations. Copies of vocabulary and notes will also be uploaded to Teams.
     
    Literature Stories - All stories will be read aloud by the teacher and the students; using a combination of oral cloze reading, partner reading, choral reading and independent reading, while incorporating the close reading technique.  Stories will be discussed in class using strategies such as think-pair-share, think alouds, visualization, small group/partner based discussions/activities and whole group reflections/conversations.  Ticket-Out-The-Door concept will be periodically utilized as well.
     
    Study Island - Some concepts taught in class will be supported by Study Island lessons and assignments.
