• Grades in music class are based as follows:

50%   PARTICIPATION/EFFORT (performance alone and with others in class)

30%   BEHAVIOR (50% if written work is not used that quarter)

20%   WRITTEN WORK (worksheets, co-op activities, school concert, etc.).

Depending on the quarter, not all categories are used.  However, participation/effort and behavior will always be used as a grade.

Students will receive a B if all categories are satisfactory.  To receive a lower grade than a B indicates that a student is below that which is expected of him or her.  Although a poor quiz score/worksheet can be a factor, participation and behavior is of highest importance.

To receive a grade higher than a B, a student's work in all categories is higher than required.  For example, consistent leadership in all activities, especially in-class discussions or volunteering, will earn a student an A. Demonstrating excellent effort and ability and has a positive impact on the music class.
