Grades in music class are based as follows:
50% PARTICIPATION/EFFORT (performance alone and with others in class)
30% BEHAVIOR (50% if written work is not used that quarter)
20% WRITTEN WORK (worksheets, co-op activities, school concert, etc.).
Depending on the quarter, not all categories are used. However, participation/effort and behavior will always be used as a grade.
Students will receive an A if all categories are satisfactory. To receive a lower grade than a A indicates that a student is below that which is expected of him or her. Although a poor quiz score/worksheet can be a factor, participation, a positive attitude and behavior is of the highest importance.
