Federal Programs Overview
Title I Part A
Title I Part A is a 100% federally funded supplemental education program that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies to improve educational opportunities for children. Title I programs are designed to help children meet the state academic content and performance standards in reading, language arts, and mathematics. School buildings with 40% or more poverty are entitled to assistance. LEAs may utilize the funds to upgrade the entire school program.
The Hazleton Area School District Title I elementary schools operate a Schoolwide reform program to support all elementary students. Each building has a unique schoolwide plan specific to the needs of the school. It is the goal of all schools to increase student academic achievement. Plans are reviewed by administration, teachers, staff, parents, and community members annually.
Title II Part A is a 100% federally funded supplemental educational program that provides financial assistance to improve the skills of teachers and the quality of instruction in core academic subjects in public and private elementary and secondary schools through professional development.
Title III Part A Language Instruction for English Learners and Immigrant Students provides supplemental funds to LEAs to improve the education of ELLs and immigrant children and youth, by assisting the children to learn English and meet challenging state academic content and standards.
The purpose of Title IV Part A is to provide all students with access to well-rounded educational opportunities, to improve school conditions for student learning through a safe and healthy environment, and to improve the effective use of technology, therefore, increasing academic achievement and digital literacy of students.
