The Penn State Millennium Scholars Program is designed for high-achieving science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) students who will become leaders in their chosen fields and are committed to increasing the diversity of professionals in STEM-related disciplines. Millennium Scholars are students with both the passion and the ability to advance the frontiers of knowledge and change the world. In addition to the financial support, the goal of the program is to provide students with academic advising, professional development and personal support to ensure their success. They receive guided preparation for admission to Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. programs upon graduating from Penn State. They are engaged in research from their very first year and participate in Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) each summer after their first year.
