Visual Art 1- Students will study and demonstrate knowledge of the elements and principles of design (line, color, shape, space, texture, value, form, balance, pattern, unity, emphasis, movement, rhythm, and contrast). A variety of projects utilizing different media will correspond with these elements and principles providing ample practice in each area. Students will view the work of artists throughout history, and will work in pencil, colored pencil, acrylic paint, watercolor, oil and chalk pastels, pen and ink, collaged paper, charcoal and other materials.
Crafts 1- Students will develop an appreciation and understanding of the crafts movement throughout history. Students will learn different techniques and will work in a variety of materials. Projects may include: bookmaking, paper crafts, paper mache sculpture, seed bead and glass mosaics, weavings, coil basketry, stamping, printmaking, plaster sculpture, picture frame construction, mask making.
