ATTENTION CLASS OF 2024
COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY INFORMATION
The Hazleton Area High School Commencement Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 5th at 6:00 p.m. Normally, the ceremony is held on the last official day for students (June 7th for this school year). However, this year has produced some problematic circumstances. As many of you may know, the bleachers in the high school gymnasium (currently the larger of the two bleachers) will be removed before the end of March, and installation of the new bleachers will officially begin on Monday, June 10th. The bleacher situation drastically reduces the number of parents/guardians who may be comfortably seated in the gymnasium during a given ceremony. In turn, this creates some difficulty with holding graduation inside should the weather not cooperate. However, we do have a plan for an indoor ceremony, should the need arise.
Moving the HAHS Commencement Ceremony up two days to Wednesday, June 5, 2024, provides us with ample rain dates up through Sunday, June 9, 2024. Essentially, this gives us five (5) full days in which to host an outdoor ceremony. This will not affect the seniors or any other students within the district. The last three (3) days of school remain half days for underclassmen. No matter the weather circumstances, Sunday, June 9th will be the final day to hold our ceremony (indoors should it be warranted).
