Welcome to my classroom.  I am here to help you become the best math student you can be.  By working together, I am sure we can help you succeed.

What do I bring to class every day?

    1)   Binder or notebook

    2)   Pencil – work will only be accepted in pencil.

    3)   Folder

    4)   Computer

    5)   Textbook

    How will I be graded?

    Homework/Classwork:                                    25%

    Quizzes/PDN's:                                               25%

    Tests/Projects                                               25%

    Exams:                                                          25%

    Classwork/Homework

Classwork is not an optional assignment and will be checked everyday. Once a lesson is complete, you will be given problems to practice. This is NOT free time! Homework may also be given daily and will always be checked.

    How will homework/classwork be graded?

Math is not a spectator sport.  In order to become proficient, one needs to actively practice.  My homework/classwork is a time for you to practice what you have just learned and will be assigned almost everyday. Homework/Classwork will be checked for either complete or not complete and graded from 0-10 points.  I want to see that you have attempted to work out each question.  The problems need to be copied down and work must be shown. The student will get credit for all completed problems.

Students will have one (1) week after the due date to hand in an assignment for partial credit.  Work not handed in after this time will receive a score of zero (0).

What if I miss a day?

If you were absent, you have 3 days to make up any missed work that was given, for full credit.  It is your responsibility to get the missed assignment(s), complete the assignment(s) and show the missed work to me anytime before that third day is over.  It is your responsibility to ask a classmate or myself what you missed.  Ask if anything was collected, notes taken or worksheets given. It is extremely important for you to come to math class because classroom discussions can not be duplicated.

    Tests:

All tests will be announced and a review will be given the day before the test. If a student is absent on test day, they are expected to take the test the FIRST DAY THEY RETURN TO SCHOOL!

    Quizzes:

Most quizzes will be announced but a review may or may not be given. Students should study from class and homework materials. If a student is absent on test day, they are expected to take the test the FIRST DAY THEY RETURN TO SCHOOL!

    PDN Quizzes:

PDN's will be assigned daily and posted on teams.  Students must complete the PDN each day, even if absent.  At the end of each week, students will receive a PDN quiz grade.

How do I study for a math quiz or test?

My tests consist of similar problems that were assigned for homework or were given on a quiz.  The best way to study for a math test is to practice problems.  Select old homework problems and re-work them, or make up questions of your own.  Do not wait until the night before to study for a quiz or test!

What if I have a question?

Please come to me!!  I cannot say this enough.  I am here before and after school and during lunch.  If these times do not work for you, we will find a time that does.

    What are the classroom rules?

My classroom rules are as follows:

    1)      Be respectful to me, classmates, yourself, and all materials in the room.

    2)      Follow all school rules and dress code.

    3)      Bring materials (laptop, notebook, pencil, book) to class everyday.

    4)      Be on time and in your seat when the bell rings and do not line up at the door.

    5)      Only use materials assigned to you. Report issues immediately.

Students: use this page as a reminder of what is expected of you in the classroom. Our class time is important to you and to me. Keep up with your assignments, do your best, ask me if you need help, be respectful, and I guarantee you will do well in my class.
