Poetry Out Loud Information

- CLASSROOM COMPETITIONS will be held between October 16th and October 26th. (All Students)
- Choose ONE poem to memorize from the website: www.poetryoutloud.org (Click on "Find Poem"- scroll through- there are pages of poems). This poem will be recited in class and scored by your teacher.
- Practice this. Memorize it. Try out different tones and inflections to say it in a way that connects with the emotion/tone.
- The top four participants in each grade level will move onto the SCHOOL COMPETITION
* Students who have Moyer period 8/9 will go on October 16th
* Students who have Mazaika period 5/6 will go on October 17th
* Students who have Moyer period 5/6 will go on October 18th
* Students who have Mazaika period 8/9 will go on October 19th
* All other students will perform in their English classes on the day that Mr. Plesce and Mrs. Yakubowski tell you
- SCHOOL COMPETITION will be held on November 6th at 3:00 pm in the high school auditorium (4 Students From Each Grade)
- You will recite the poem you did in the classroom
- You will ALSO recite a second poem from the website that has been preapproved by me
- Parents are welcome to attend
- The winner of this competition will go onto the REGIONAL COMPETITION
- REGIONAL COMPETITION is December 6th at WVIA (1 Student)
- You will recite the classroom level poem
- You will recite the school level poem
- You will recite a third poem from the website that has been preapproved by me
- STATE COMPETITION is March 4th in Harrisburg
- Congratulations to junior, Sulette Lange, for placing 1st in regionals. She will be headed to states!
- Please review your scores to determine if new poem choices are needed.
- NATIONAL COMPETITION is April 30th to May 3rd in Washington, DC.
- Congratulations, Sulette! You are going to DC!
- I will be at the Arts buildings on Tuesday's during period 9 to work with you!
