Precision Machine Technology is competency based education.
Students are graded on tasks and shop projects. This includes both performance and theory exams. This also includes NIMS certifications. These areas of certification include: Measurement, Materials and Safety; Job Planning, Benchwork and Layout; Manual Milling; Manual Turning Between Centers; Manual Turning with Chucking and Manual Drill Press Operations. Each skill credential offered by NIMS presents the specific requirements and evaluation criteria a student must satisfy to qualify for a NIMS skill credential.
