Check Your Email!Notice!I have been sending emails in an effort to help you with assignments - most of these emails are not answered because you likely did not check your district-based email. This is the only way to communicate with your teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators, so make sure to check your email today!Your district-based email account is your name, as it appears in Skyward (example: YOURNAM000@hasdk12.org). Your password is your student identification number. You can access it from the district homepage here: https://www.hasdk12.org/ Use the "Staff Email" link on the homepage.Let me know immediately if you have any problems accessing your email!
Warning! Journals! Ouch!Important! Please Take Note!It has come to my attention that some students are not bothering to write the Daily Journals required for this class. I cannot force students to do their job, but I can give zeroes for no effort. Please know that if you do not follow instructions for these important and mandatory daily writing exercises, you cannot possibly pass this course of instruction. They are graded every week, they are participation grades, and they are also 25% of your final grade. Effectively, you will have wasted an entire semester (four and a half months) in a class that you will have to repeat because you must have four credits in English in order to graduate in four years.Take this advice while you still can, and don't ignore your required work, don't waste your time, and don't waste mine. Thanks!
YOU"VE GOT MAIL!
EVERYONE has a district email, to be used for correspondence between students and their teachers. It eliminates the vague and misleading personal emails that have been attempted (and usually sent to junk mail).
To use your account, go to the district homepage and click "Staff Email" at the top of the page. Enter your username, followed by @hasdk12.org as your email address. Enter your student identification number as your password.
Contact me for any questions.
Office HoursIf you need assistance:My office hours are from 7:10 AM to 3:00 PM every school day, Monday through Friday. Please feel free to contact me by email or through Microsoft Teams to let me know about the difficulties or questions you may have. Most of what you need to know is already on my district web page at https://www.hasdk12.org/Page/6078.Evenings and weekends, you may leave a message and I will contact you the next business day.Again, my email is firstname.lastname@example.org.Thank you!
This year will be very different from what you and I are used to, but we'll get through it - together. Expect delays and glitches, but be sure that I will do my best to teach you what you need to know while answering the questions you will undoubtedly have about English.
A few things have not changed, however; attendance and participation are graded and mandatory, so make sure you are where you are supposed to be, when you're supposed to be there!
Assignments, tests and quizzes, and homework are also graded and required, so pay attention to instructions and due dates because late work won't count as a grade, and zeroes add up quickly (that's a math joke)!
There are several ways to reach me, but the easiest is through Teams and my school email: email@example.com. I'll reply as soon as I can, I promise!
