CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS
The program of studies for all students attending the Hazleton Area School District places a strong emphasis on career awareness. The goal of the Career Pathway program is to encourage each student to establish a reasonable career path which will provide a smooth transition between High School/Career or College.
Students that participate in the Career Pathway Programs are eligible to participate in a cooperative education program enabling them to receive supervised "on the job training" and to receive an income for their experience. Students who complete program requirements will receive a certificate of completion and/or National Industry Certification. The programs are designed for students in grade 10, 11, and 12.
The Career Center offers eighteen approved programs.
Career and Technical students are able to earn articulated credits at many post-secondary institutions in Pennsylvania through SOAR (which stands for Students Occupationally and Academically Ready). These credits are free to the student. For more information, please contact Lori Herman at 570-459-3221 ext 82505.
